Money & Crypto
28% of economists believe there is a risk of recession in next 12 months…up from 18% in January! That is somewhat alarming. (WSJ)
Fed signaling rising interest rates . I have to imagine that the last 14 years of extremely cheap money has to have some unintended repercussions at some point. I don’t know what they are but at some point I think we have to pay the price, right? Isn’t there no such thing as a free lunch? (WSJ)
Coinbase launched in India 3 days ago, but is now saying that UPI services are unavailable. (UPI is a popular peer-to-peer payments system used in India.) I feel bad for the product managers and engineers on this launch…they’re probably having quite a busy weekend. (Coin Desk)
At the Bitcoin Miami conference, a giant mechanical bull similar to the one on Wall Street (except that this one is castrated"), was unveiled. It was created by Furio Tadeschi and commissioned by Trade Station. Miami mayor said “I can tell you, [in] Miami we have big balls. That's all I can tell you.” Some say this represents the sign of moving from an old economy to a new economy and that the missing balls make it more ‘gender netural.’ I have to be honest and admit that my first thought was…I bet there were no women with any serious influence who were involved in this project…this is peak crypto bro. (Nasdaq)
White House wants to pass legislation that treats issuers of stablecoins like banks . This would create a pretty high regulatory burden and definitely restrict innovation. On the one hand this can help protect consumers from the risk that can arise from stablecoins. On the other hand, as we’ve learned in 2008, banks can wreak their own havoc too… (WSJ)
Novel, who helps companies create NFTs, raises $6M (WSJ)
Etc.
Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson was confirmed by the Senate as the next Supreme Court Justice.

📺🎧I’ve recommended the Dateline podcast The Thing About Pam before but revisiting given the new Hulu miniseries that is currently airing which recreates the story. I know the Hulu series has some controversy and not the best reivews, but I actually have enjoyed it so far.
