05/23/2022: Weekly Briefing
Last week, I wrote about how I was trying out Personal Capital and that one of their financial advisors had suggested diversifying my portfolio towards small, mid cap, and other assets like real estate.
I tried researching what was best practice for portfolio allocation as I had thought that just sticking most investments in the SP500 would be fine. It seems in reading around, that diversifying a bit more than that is helpful.
This article did an interesting job explaining the returns generated by different portfolios between 1970-2020. It doesn’t specify which types of assets make up each asset class (for example, what exact stocks did the portfolio invest in for international large-cap value), so I’m not sure if the author is looking at selective data. But in any case, I still found it interesting to look at.

The US passed 1M deaths from Covid. If you had asked me 2 years ago if we would reach 1M deaths, I would have never believed you. It’s really sad that so many people have been affected.
